Really i never thought that such a film could be taken in tamil film industry.It was no surprise that Kamal Hasaan did it.Ten different roles in the big Screen is a huge thing to work with and all the makeups special effects and all the crew and cast members were extraordinary in making such a good movie.This movie is definitely a benchmark for other tamil movies to follow.The fact now is the other film directors and film makers will be feared of taking a commercial movie with normal hero dominated subjects with usual peppy songs unimaginable fights and dupe stunts which is the usual trend going on before this film has released.
This movie also has some defects with a bit fast dialogue deliveries and lots of languages used with tamil telugu english and even sometimes japanese which is hard to follow by normal people.But the theme is very clear and Kamal doesn’t tinker with too much scientific issues and made it a generalised one with explaining the whole plethora with panache.The story starts with the 12th century Nambi being drowned into the ocean with the rival saivites vs vaishnavites clash of the chola dynasty.Then the story picks up momentum with all the ten roles potrayed with equal efforts to every roles.It keeps everybody at the edge of the seats for the entire movie.It was a good three hour movie. If you wink your eyes you might miss a scene.The role i love watching is the fletcher(negative role),the CIA agent and the CBI officer.Both have done their job to perfection.Asin has done her job to perfection as the story moves along with her mostly and these kind of movies in tamil cinema is a rarity.Mallika Sherawat’s role as a translator is a bit too short on the commercial side of the movie but she did her job well within her limitations.The director must be given accolades for the way he has handles his crew.
